Inspiring – to find beauty in mundane things is a passion of mine and this is a top-quality piece.
The down-light gives this a mysterious, brooding feel, which makes it more than just a ‘;pretty texture’.
Impressive.

The comment made by ninereeds makes a point I immediately saw myself. The brooding feel exposed by the downlight. A very nice touch and most likely the one thing that made this shot catch you eye. It is all in all, a great shot that gives power and effect to simple structural object. You've really brought the pillar to life. You do realize that such artwork would be lovingly embraced for cover art by such folk as industrial metal bands....?

I never thought of that, but I would be very pleased and flattered if a band were to use one of my photos for their cover art! Thank-you very much for your detailed feedback.

I love the strong lighting, which in turn creates those great shadows. The empty space on both sides is also a good addition that helps emphasize the pillar.
