The comment made by ninereeds makes a point I immediately saw myself. The brooding feel exposed by the downlight. A very nice touch and most likely the one thing that made this shot catch you eye. It is all in all, a great shot that gives power and effect to simple structural object. You've really brought the pillar to life. You do realize that such artwork would be lovingly embraced for cover art by such folk as industrial metal bands....?
